Mr Mícheál Ó Ralghallaigh recorded that tune with the parts in reverse order, but the Open House recorded it the other manner.

Gian Marco - Micheál Ó Raghallaigh plays it the opposite way round to your transcription.. I haven't heard the open house recording.

I'd bet my old Rudall that Michael O changed the parts around. It just sounds better to me when the tune starts low and goes up high. Kevin Burke has it right, to my ears.

This just doesn't work for me with the low part first.
It just doesn't sound right.
I'm convinced that the high part should be the first part.
It just doesn't make any sense unless the low part is 2nd.

I think the proof of the pudding is the fact that the low part has an ending but the end of the high part just hangs there.

The bottom line for me is that the book with the author's transcription has the high part first. It sounds right to my ears.
