Scoil Acla (Mailing Lists)
Scoil Acla was established in 1910 on Achill Island, County Mayo as a summer school for the teaching of Irish, the teaching of music, dance, song and to promote the culture and the arts in general. HALSWAY MANOR SOCIETY operates Halsway Manor as the hub of its activities. A Regional and National Folk Music centre with folk events every weekend and frequently mid-week. Residential courses cover the whole folk arts spectrum and are offered to encourage singers, dancers, and musicians in all levels of folk music. Accommodation - There are 6 day rooms including the Kennedy-Grant library, 27 bedrooms with 62 beds. Not Celtic per se, this astonishingly talented musician from Norway plays the Hardangerfiddle, basically a violin with sympathetic strings running under the main strings. There are hints of Celtic soul in her music. You simply have to hear her!

Uilleann Pipers Club Schaffhausen (Regional Guides)
The Uilleann Pipers Club Schaffhausen is the only club in Switzerland dedicated to Irish Trad. The main focus is on uilleann pipes where they offer a loan scheme and weekly tuition and regular sessions. Some members play other instruments. At the annual workshop there are courses for flute, fiddle and concertina as well. The club organizes gigs by various local and international groups at different venues in Schaffhausen, which is a lovely old city near the Rheinfall at the Swiss-German border.

Great band based in Bruxelles, the capital of Europe - and the roots of the band members are from its several corners. The music is a unique blend of music from the celtic nations, some scandinavian and eastern influences. A lot of tunes are written by the band. Raquel is a wonder on the accordeon. One of the few bands which can change from mystic deepness to rocking tunes!

Andreas Rogge Pipemaker/Dudelsackbau (Musical Instruments)
Andreas is one of the few *great* makers of the uilleann pipes. Together with his few craftsmen he produces high quality bagpipes of other kinds, too. The only disadvantage is the waiting list , but that's common to all master instrument makers....

Klaus Gehrman's site is written in German, but he has a nice collection of tunes, many from celtic Spain, some German and some dark age tunes, too. He is also a member of the group "dereelium", one of the best German IRTrad bands.
