Try to get in touch for information with Pete Clark : he's a very good scottish fiddler, specialist of Neil Gow http://www.musicinscotland.com/PeteClark/
He's a wonderful chap, as well as being an amazing fiddler. If you get in touch with him, give him a hello from Nikita...
I don't understand your post. Invite to what ? What are you asking ? Pete Clark certainly knows a fair bit about Gow and his music. I'll be seeing him some time next week. Is there something you'd like me to ask him ?
Something which might interest you - over 20 years ago, there was a program about Gow on Radio Scotland. I still have that recording on cassette tape, and could make you a copy if you like.
I won't be able to reply to this before Nov.10th.
Phil Cunningham, in one of his tv programmes about the history of Scottish music, devoted some time to him; there's a portrait, owned by the relevant local Duke, that his ancestor has specially painted by a leading artist of the day; apparently the Third Duke used to like to sit on the bank of the river, listening to Neil Gow practice on the opposite bank; the Fourth Duke liked to sit next to Neil Gow!
PS Alex - if you're named after him, why are you Alex ? Don't quite get that.......

You don't need an invite, you need to book accommodation!

Re: neil gow
he, or they, spelt it "Niel" for some reason
Well, probably because either way was recognisably the same name back then.
Like the Norwegian Grieg vs the Scottish Greig - same family in the case of Edvard
